That's me, with my little sister Carol. She grew up to be a writer, and I got to design the cover of her very first book, published by Merit Press/Simon & Schuster in 2015: The Yearbook.
About Chris When I was a kid I liked to stretch out on the living room floor with piles of magazines and study the advertising, fonts and lettering, layouts, illustrations, and photography. I had no idea that someone in an office far away was dreaming up clever ways to capture my attention, compel me to act, or persuade me to buy.
One day I saw an amazing print ad for Lemon Up shampoo (with the juice of one whole lemon!). The bottle had a great big plastic lemon as the cap. I felt like I was struck by lightning. It was irresistible. Twenty five-plus years, and a few dozen design awards later, I still love great design and advertising ... and all things lemony.
So you might be thinking, “That’s a great shampoo story Chris, but what the heck do you actually do all day?” Well, all kinds of things: I create consumer campaigns, including content, print, tv, social media, and radio commercials. I design signage, vehicle graphics, logos, and powerpoint decks. And of course, all sorts of print projects: brochures, posters, books, book covers, magazines, newsletters, billboards, annual reports, invitations, and most anything that requires an eye for design. I excel in telling stories, quickly understanding my various client's businesses, helping create an advertising strategy, and making complex information easy to understand.
I am enormously lucky to be working in a field that excites me and feels pretty much like a hobby every day.
